Frequently asked questions
If you're new or looking for answers to your questions, this guide will help you learn more about our services and their features.
Psychotherapist
Psychotherapy tends to go on longer than a round of counselling sessions and is more likely to be in-depth than counselling. Psychotherapy is more likely to explore the past as well as the present and more likely to explore childhood root issues instead of just behavioural patterns.
Counsellor
Counselling is a type of therapy in its own right. It is more likely to be action—and behaviour-focused, short-term, and focused on present issues rather than past issues.
However, both counselling and psychotherapy are often referred to as talking therapies. Both explore feelings, beliefs, and thoughts and focus on creating a safe, supportive environment. Psychotherapy and counselling help you understand yourself better, and others better, make better choices, and move forward in life.
Coaching
Counselling, or psychotherapy, focuses on understanding, resolving, and healing emotional trauma and pain from the past. Coaching is focused on the present and future.
Coaches help you to identify goals, leverage personal strengths and take action.
Coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives.
Selecting your practitioner is entirely your choice. Take some time to review the bios and choose someone you feel a connection with. If you still need to figure out who would be the best fit after reading the profiles or have any questions about our practitioners, please feel free to contact us at hello@happiworkers.health. We're happy to discuss your needs and preferences and help guide you towards a practitioner who aligns with them. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and supported.
Absolutely! We encourage you to try out different practitioners until you find one you truly connect with. The therapeutic relationship is key, so you must feel completely comfortable with your provider. Don't hesitate to contact us at hello@happiworkers.health if you need guidance finding a practitioner who's the right fit. Switching is easy—just select another provider when booking your next session. Our goal is for you to have the best experience possible, so please reach out if you have any questions about changing practitioners at any time.
The answer varies depending on the situation. If you're engaged in therapy or counselling, it's generally advised to stick with a single therapist or counsellor due to the delicate nature of these sessions. Switching or having multiple therapists is not recommended. However, you can also work with a coach if you're already in therapy or counselling. For those who are working with a coach, you have the flexibility to see more than one tailored to your needs. Since your employer covers these sessions, you can choose any practitioner you prefer anytime, as long as it fits within your allocated allowance!
We understand delays can happen. If you are running late, please inform your practitioner right away. They will wait 10 minutes past the scheduled start time before moving on to their next appointment.
If you notify them that you're delayed, it is at the practitioner's discretion whether to add any remaining session time or simply keep to the original end time. Typically, the full-time is not extended when you arrive late.
Likewise, your practitioner will inform you if they are running behind schedule. We aim for punctuality on both sides, but delays occur. Clear communication allows us to handle lateness professionally and determine the best way to utilise the remaining time.
The key is to contact your practitioner as soon as possible if you're late. We want you to receive the full benefit of the session and the time you deserve.
We understand that unexpected events or emergencies require changing your plans. To be fair to your practitioner's schedule, we kindly ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. As we still need to pay our busy practitioners for their time, we cannot offer any refunds if cancellation takes place within 48 hours of your session.
If notice is given less than 48 hours in advance, the session will be considered used. We hold our practitioners to the same standard—they should provide you with at least 48 hours' notice if they cannot make an appointment.
By giving ample heads-ups on both sides, we can avoid last-minute inconveniences and ensure you get the care you need, giving them time to open up the slot for another client.
Please let us know as soon as you know your schedule has changed so we can find a time that works for you. We're here to be flexible and accommodate life's curveballs when possible.
Our practitioners undergo a rigorous 4-step vetting process:
Step 1: We verify credentials, qualifications, accreditations, and membership in professional bodies. Only recognised, accredited providers are accepted.
Step 2: References are checked to ensure ethical practices.
Step 3: Our chief clinical officer conducts comprehensive interviews to assess suitability, expertise, approach, communication style, and cultural fit.
Step 4: Approved practitioners complete robust onboarding, induction, and anti-racist training.
Bonus: We use "secret shopper" feedback sessions to help practitioners continuously improve. Patients share detailed reviews that we relay back for ongoing development.
Vetting ensures that only the highest-calibre providers join our team. You can feel fully confident in the expertise, ethics, and care of Happiworkers practitioners.
